    The National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD) found that 50% of patients who died from acute kidney injury received inadequate care and an estimated 12,000 lives could be saved each year. In response to these findings NICE produced guidelines on how to diagnose and manage patients with AKI.
