Friedrich Hund, in full Friedrich Hermann Hund, (born February 4, 1896, Karlsruhe, Germany—died March 31, 1997, Karlsruhe), German physicist known for his work on the electronic structure of atoms and molecules. He helped introduce the method of using molecular orbitals to determine the electronic structure of molecules and chemical bond formation.
To cite only one example, the Visigoths under Fritigern were driven into Roman territory by the Huns in 376 CE and, after suffering abuses by Roman administrators, rose in revolt, initiating the First Gothic War with Rome of 376-382 CE, in which the Romans were defeated, and their emperor Valens killed, at the Battle of Adrianople in 378 CE.
Friedrich Hund (4 February 1896 – 31 March 1997) was a German physicist from Karlsruhe known for his work on atoms and molecules. He worked at the Universities of Rostock, Leipzig, Jena, Frankfurt am Main, Gottingen and was a member of the International Academy of Quantum Molecular Science.
