The states of Eastern Europe were afraid of switching the focus of the United States from Russia to the confrontation with China. This is reported by Defense News.

According to the publication, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, at a meeting of NATO ministers, said that the technological sphere will become one of the main ones in countering Beijing. “Alliances like NATO are one of our greatest strengths,” he stressed.

At the same time, according to the material, the Eastern European allies of the United States are concerned about the continued aggravation of existing problems between the West and Russia. For this reason, the partners called on the United States to pay attention to this region and strengthen its military presence in it.

Despite these statements, the White House administration continues to insist that the allies need to unite against China’s military aggression in the Pacific and human rights violations.

Earlier, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that the United States will continue to adhere to its obligations in relations with Taiwan and will help counter the threat posed by China. According to her, the US commitment to Taiwan is dictated by the need to maintain peace and stability in the Strait and in the Asia-Pacific region.
