Here’s some pedals that do the Plexi thing well: Wampler Plexi Drive, Wampler Plextortion, Catlinbread Little Dirty Secret (DLS), Carl Martin Plexitone. There are others, but these are probably the most well known and do a very good job at it. I actually have an SL Drive being shipped to me right now, as I have heard nothing but good reviews on it.
The Carl Martin PlexiTone, is as the name might indicate an unusual high gain three step rocket of an overdrive. The PlexiTone offers two step overdrive, the crunch channel and the high gain channel, on top of that it gives you an up to 20dB clean boost channel.
