NATO does not know Russia’s intentions towards Ukraine, is preparing for the possible use of military force from the Russian side and calls on Moscow and Minsk for more transparent military exercises. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference following the first day of the meeting of the alliance’s foreign ministers, writes TASS.
“We do not have any clarity and certainty about what exactly Russia’s intentions towards Ukraine are, which change over time. (…) NATO must be prepared for the scenario that Russia uses military force, and we are preparing for this,” Stoltenberg said.
“Now we see a lack of transparency, we see an extraordinary concentration of military forces and we see escalated and very aggressive rhetoric,” the politician continued in connection with the alleged accumulation of Russian troops near the borders of Ukraine.
Earlier on November 30, the United States offered to put financial pressure on Russia because of the alleged threat to Ukraine.
