The head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, called on the European Union to completely abandon oil, coal and gas from Russia. TASS writes about this.
“To do this, we must diversify supplies, achieve better results in energy efficiency and we must invest heavily in renewable energy sources,” she said.
The head of the EC added that the European Union should help consumers who are experiencing serious problems due to the multiple increase in prices for hydrocarbons in Europe in 2021-2022.
Earlier, the EU Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrel, assessed the possibility of refusing gas supplies from Russia. According to him, it is impossible to refuse the supply of energy resources from Russia “from day to day”, but the European Union will strive for a rapid reduction in purchases.
