Use stainless steel push pins or silk tacks to attach the silk once it is stretched. en go over the pencil lines with the gutta. Hold the gutta bottle like a pencil. Gently squeeze the bottle until the resist begins to flow. Begin drawing your pattern. Once you’ve completed the design, carefully examine the lines.
Pre-wash your silk by hand or in the washing machine on a gentle cycle with warm water and Synthrapol. Rinse, dry and, when still slightly damp, press with an iron set to the silk setting. The Serti Technique lends itself well to designs with enclosed areas where the color will be contained within the resist lines.

Method 2. Trying the Serti Technique. Draw your design on the silk. Outline the design with resist or gutta. Allow the resist or gutta to dry fully. Use a medium-sized paintbrush to apply paint to the scarf. Set the paint with an iron after 24 hours. Wash the scarf if you used resist, or dry clean it if you used gutta.
